This paper will discuss various considerations for assessing the condition of an electrical connection exhibiting a thermal anomaly. It should be noted that this discussion will be limited to electrical connections and not electrical devices such as circuit breakers, fuses, capacitors, transformers etc. but will apply to connections attached to these devices, albeit with some caveats which will be noted herein.
