A 32-hour course covering the theory and applications of infrared thermography focused on the detection of water ingress in structural materials. The course focuses on a wide range of nondestructive thermal techniques supporting the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) conducted by contractors, airline subsidiaries and aircraft manufacturers utilizing their published inspection procedures.  

Level 1 material includes infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, and operation of thermal imaging equipment and specific recommendations on how to capture quality thermal images that are clear, concise and easy to interpret. Students learn the basic inspection techniques based on accepted industry inspection procedures. The class fully meets the educational requirements for certification according to the published recommendations of ASNT SNT-TC-1A and NAS410. Upon completion students will be aware of how to correctly perform handheld infrared inspections on a variety of materials and composite structures. Also included is a general overview of the most popular thermal inspection applications and techniques, providing a wider base of understanding of the technology.

A three-part ASNT/NAS 410 certification examination is available on the final day of the course. This is for individuals with a written practice, inspection procedures and qualifying work experience. This test must be arranged in advance and a student’s written practice and applicable inspection procedures must be supplied to The Snell Group prior to the course. In addition, two blind test samples will need to be supplied.

***Cancellation Policy***

If a student cannot attend the course, a substitute may be sent at no additional cost. If the student cancels one week before the start of a class, Snell Infrared will refund their payment minus a $50 service fee or will transfer them to another Snell Infrared course. If a student cancels less than one week before the course, Snell Infrared will refund their payment minus a $150 service fee. 

For cancellations within three days of the start of a course, or if a student does not show up at the course, there is no refund.
