The class provides in depth information on the application of infrared imaging for identification of potential moisture and other thermal anomalies in conventional low slope roofing.  It includes a discussion of: infrared camera specifications suitable for the task; the basics of infrared energy and heat transfer associated with this application; the appropriate methodologies for different type of roof construction in both heat loss and heat gain situation; limitations of this test method; reporting;  and a discussion of relevant standards and guidelines.

There are several hands-on simulations and exercises built into the course. While owning an infrared camera is not required for attendance, participants are encouraged to bring their cameras to class if they own one. Different makes and models of cameras will be available for those that do not own a camera.  Completion of this course prepares students to understand how infrared technology is successfully applied to detect moisture and other thermal anomalies in low slope roof construction.
