Thanks Cary, I have thought of that.

My specialty is wood frame, so I do residential, multi family and small commercial buildings fitting that description. The only reason for my original question was that I recall in Level I some of the terminology for electrical was more than what I had come accross, so I wanted to make sure that wasn't an issue. I am very confident in my IR ability when it comes to buildings, but electrical and mechancial are not something I often get involved in.

No Takers on original question, I can see that the suspense is just killing you, here is the answer.

A Paper Stick-on Label had fallen off some component in the Control Cabinet (Bucket) and become Lodged between the Pull-in Coil.

This produced a Cooler than Normal Thermal Pattern.

While the Coil Temperature was below the piece of paper’s ignition point (normally 424°F), this Motor Control Center (MCC) is fitted with Smoke and Flashover Sensors that would have shut down the entire system if the paper was to cause a smoldering (smoke) emission.

Show Me The Heat and/or Cool.

I am selling a Flir I 300 infrared camera. It was purchased brand new last June and has never been used. I don't think any of them are that great and I don't seem them improving much. Doesn't seem to me the manufactures do a real competent job on the software side of the house. For me, especially in the field, I use my iPad along with my E50 Wifi and the FLIR iPad viewer. I send the images directly to the iPad then drop them in a Pages template I created for reports. I can do some pretty nice stuff and email them to the client right from the job site. The clients really like seeing the images on the iPad to. They think it's pretty high tech, especially with they also use an iPad at work or at home. Most of them think it's cooler than the FLIR imager itself.

I wear Rx glasses all the time. I have been buying them as industrial safety glasses for years. They have detachable side shields (which is a "minor" violation of the OSHA (I think) rules for safety glasses -- they are supposed to be permanently attached). My camera has a viewfinder only.

I do run into problems when the sun is to the side. A cap with a visor, like a ball cap, can help if it shades the eye. I don't have issues with focus though. The viewfinder on my camera is adjustable for focus / users eyesight.

The sunlight issue has not happened often enough for me to do anything specific about it, but now I am wondering if using the sideshields with shading or tape or similar on them would help. Most of my outdoor work is buildings, so I don't use the sideshields when I am outdoors. When I can get a hand free, I find that just holding it up to the side so it shades my eye and the back of the eyeglass lens helps. Unfortunately, that usually means using three hands. ;-)

Followup on bushing issue-attached are the pictures from when the line guys dismantled the top of the bushing. You can see the connection between the draw lead and the threaded fitting was under some distress.
