A 32-hour course covering the theory and applications of infrared thermography focused on the detection of subsurface flaws in structural materials. The course focuses on a wide range of non-destructive thermal techniques, but also the written procedures of the client. Upon completion students will be aware of how to correctly perform active thermography inspections on a variety of materials and composite structures. Also included is a general overview of the most popular thermal inspection applications and techniques, providing a wider base of understanding of the technology.
Level I material includes infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, and operation of thermal imaging equipment and specific recommendations on how to capture quality thermal images that are clear, concise and easy to interpret. Students learn the basic inspection techniques based on accepted industry and international inspection procedures. The class fully meets the educational requirements for certification according to the published recommendations of ASNT.
An optional day of certification testing is available on the final day of the course. This is reserved for individuals with qualifying work experience who have a written practice requiring compliance with SNT-TC-1A, CP-189 or NAS 410. The test must be arranged in advance and is available for an additional $250/person per class. The student's written practice must be reviewed by The Snell Group prior to the course.
