Infrared thermography is a valuable tool that can help weatherization professionals improve the effectiveness of their home energy audits and work flow. IR can detect air leakage pathways or locate areas of missing or damaged insulation not easily seen through a visual inspection of the home. With this accurate information in hand, scheduling of crews and materials is more cost efficient and work quality is greatly increased. Based on current practices, this presentation will cover the types of IR equipment used, the limitations of the technology and the benefits of using infrared for a home energy audit and weatherization work.
