The Snell Group, the industry leader in infrared education, and Thermal Wave Imaging, Inc. (TWI), the world leader in infrared non-destructive test systems, are offering two Thermal NDT training classes this spring at TWI’s facility in Ferndale, Michigan.
NDT of Materials - Level I, April 26-29 is a 32-hour course that covers the theory and applications of infrared thermography as it applies to the detection of subsurface flaws in structural materials. The course focuses on a wide range of non-destructive thermal techniques, but also the written procedures of the client.
NDT of Materials - Level II, March 29-April 1, is a review of Level I but expands into advanced inspection techniques and radiometry including topics on radiometric temperature measurement including how taking accurate temperatures improves diagnosis and interpretation. The course delves deeply into the concepts of emissivity, reflected temperature compensation, as well as spatial and measurement resolution. Also included is an overview of ASTM 2582-07 and flaw depth determination.
Both training classes meet the educational requirements of ANST SNT TC-1A. An optional day of certification testing is available on the Friday of each course (April 30 for Level I and April 2 for Level II). This is reserved for individuals with qualifying work experience who have a written practice requiring compliance with SNT-TC-1A, CP-189
or NAS 410
. The test must be arranged in advance and is available for an additional $250/person per class.
